Campaign message · Sep 26, 2026
Newcomers build this city. They drive our buses, care for our seniors, build our homes and start our businesses. My pledge is to value every resident equally, and that includes every newcomer, whatever their status.
Services without fear
Every city service, from shelters and libraries to recreation, child care and public health, will be open to all residents regardless of immigration status. No one will be asked for papers to get help, and the city will not share residents’ status information.
One door for settlement
Newcomer hubs in libraries and community centres, with trained navigators who speak residents’ languages and help with health care, housing, jobs, school registration and legal support, working with the settlement agencies and community groups already doing this work.
Health care for the uninsured
Strengthen city support for community health centres that serve people without health coverage, and press the province to end gaps in coverage.
Fair work
I taught international students in Ontario’s colleges, and I earned my first engineering degree abroad. I know what it means when skills go unrecognized. The city will hire on skills, offer paid placements and mentorship, and press the province and professional bodies to recognize foreign credentials fairly. We’ll fund legal clinics that help migrant workers recover stolen wages.
Safe housing
Crack down on landlords who exploit students and newcomers with unsafe, overcrowded rentals, and give tenants support to report abuse without fear.
Refugees
Toronto will welcome refugee claimants with dignity, and I’ll insist Ottawa pay its fair share of the cost of shelter and support.
